A pilot is dead after his plane crash landed near the Provo Airport. At 4:15 p.m. rescue crews spotted the plane about a half mile south of the airport's control tower. The pilot, Ben Hill, 30 was reported dead at the scene. Rescuers say the plane crashed near a dirt road running along a dike near Utah Lake. Deputy Provo Fire Chief, Gary Jolley tells FOX 13 that the pilot reported the plane's engine failed three miles from the airport. Jolley says the plane probably hit the side of the dike, which is "pretty rugged."
Hill is a UVU teacher, whose flight that day was unrelated to the school curriculum.
