SALT LAKE CITY - "I'm living on about 300 a month now." For Utahns like Keith Paul money doesn't come easy, "Got to feed the family." Paul says, "It means everything to the world to me and my family."

Thousands waited in a long line at the Indian walk-in center to get a free turkey this morning. Jessica Archuleta is just one of many in this crowd that can't afford a Thanksgiving dinner. "I'm on a very limited income. I get SSI and SSD, but it just doesn't make it. With my rent and the food that I do have to buy, I just don't make it. It's a good thing, this is a good thing. It's a god's sent," says Jessica. It was the Harmon brothers and their generous that donated money to help people in need.

Randy Harmon says, "This year the demand is higher than ever and we really stepped up, our customers stepped up." More than $110,000 was raised, a 15 percent increase from last year. 8,000 turkeys were purchased. Bob Harmon says, "The generosity of the community is just unbelievable, especially in these times when economically it's been difficult, people have lost jobs, it's been a little difficult making ends meet but man, everyone stepped up and said it's Thanksgiving."

The Harmon brothers have been part of this turkey giveaway for 12 years now and many of these people that will be picking up these turkeys represent Utahns that are unemployed for the very first time. Sheila Moyer explains, "I'm a student so I'm just unemployed as well, free turkey I'm here. And this is your first time? Yes, it is." Linda Hilton with the Crossroads Urban Center says, "Some of these people in line used to be our donors so that's really scary when your donors turn into your clients." Hilton says 50 percent of their clients are new; many of them are middle management, white collared workers that are unemployed.
