MORGAN, Utah -
Dozens of Animal Rights Protesters from the Salt Lake Animal Advocacy Movement descended on a Morgan Farmhouse to protest against mink farmers. Mink Protest Organizer, Peter Young said, "These animals are skinned every year, and they're murdered simply to make a fur coat. So these people are making money off of blood."
The activists' protest has been in the works for months and they have filed lawsuits in federal court. The county tried to pass an ordinance to keep activists 1,000 feet away from fur farms. A mink ranch owner, Stan Durrant said he fears for his mink's safety and spends nights at his farm worried someone might try to open his cages. "They have their rights to protest and we have our rights to farm," Durrant said.
