OGDEN, Utah (AP) -
Authorities have identified a body found last weekend in Ogden Canyon. The Weber County sheriff's office says the body of 60-year-old James Purdy was found Saturday by two hunters. The men called dispatchers after discovering the decomposed body.
Capt. Klint Anderson says Purdy was an experienced hiker who was familiar with the mountains in the Ogden area.
Purdy's family had filed a missing-person report with Ogden police after Purdy didn't return home June 29.
The Deseret News reported on its Web site Tuesday that a cause of death hasn't been determined.
Anderson says a member of Purdy's family gave the sheriff's office information that let authorities make a tentative identification. A medical examiner used dental records to confirm the identity of the body.
