SALT LAKE CITY—
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker announced his choice on Wednesday morning for the proposal of the city's public safety complex. Reporters expected Becker to announce where the facility would be built, either at Library Square or across the street. Becker said that due to to major opposition and public pressure, Library Square is no longer an option for the proposed building."We certainly are responding to clear public sentiment that people do not want to see us touch Library Square," said Mayor Becker.
The proposal is for a $125 million bond for the complex that they city says it desperately needs. City officials hope to put the facility on the November ballot. Salt Lakje City spent about $75,000 in consulting fees to determine where the building should be. FOX 13's Nineveh Dinha has the latest on the story.
