KAYSVILLE, Utah—
A new trail for pedestrians, joggers, bicyclists, even horses has opened in Kaysville. "It's a wonderful addition to the city, and a wonderful addition to the trail," said Kaysville City Councilman Ron Stephens. Resident Tracy Murray says, "We're excited to have it in Kaysville. We use it a lot and it's great." Her daughter Brooklyn says, "It's nice. It's really fun just to go with your friends on it."The trail is about 4 miles but is part of a bigger project that will eventually extend 23 miles from West Bountiful to West Haven. The city teamed up with UTA, who says they're interested in providing transportation. Mick Crandall who is UTA's Deputy Chief of Planning and Program Development says, "We're always interested in a better transportation system and more chances or more opportunities to do a variety of things for what people want to get."
Kaysville's Mayor thinks this trail makes the city a more desirable place to live and believes eventually business will boom because of it. "Quality of life through an economic development point of view, where we are trying to attract businesses to our community. When we have something to offer like this, it's important," says Mayor Neka Roundy.
People who already live here are just happy they have a new way to enjoy their favorite outdoor activity. "I think it's great. It's a good piece of riding that you can use to get out of traffic, get off the streets," says Kaysville resident Jeff Oja.
Eventually, the Kaysville trail will link to Legacy Parkway's trail and then be connected to the Jordan River Parkway. UTA says it'll take years, but one day 70 miles of trails will be interconnected.
