SALT LAKE CITY - FOX 13's Big Budah lost 1.1 pounds since his last weigh-in two weeks ago and his trainer is now saying he needs to eat more. Budah weighed in at 382.7 pounds Tuesday at Gold's Gym. He also measured his body fat, which is now at 44 percent, which is about 0.5 percent less than his last weigh-in. Budah's personal trainer, Laurie Tanner, said Budah needs to consume the right amount of calories each day so his body will not plateau.

"We're going to make sure that he at least hits 3100 calories," said Tanner. "That way your body actually shreds the fat instead of keeping it on. If you don't eat enough calories then everything you eat will store it as fat."

Budah is losing weight as a part of a weight loss challenge with Gold's Gym. On Jan. 4, Budah announced his plan to lose 100 pounds before the American Idol finale in May. With every pound he loses, Gold's Gym donates 100 pounds to the Utah Food Bank.

Currently, Gold's Gym has donated 5400 pounds to the Utah Food Bank and Budah needs to lose 20 pounds to catch up. Tanner said she is going to regularly check up on him to make sure he eats a least 3100 calories a day.
