SALT LAKE CITY -
A man is dead after an avalanche on Mount Everest's west shoulder swept him away Thursday. Three of the four climbing team were saved, some of those rescuers were Utah climbers, waiting to summit the world's tallest mountain. Lhakpa Nuru, a Sherpa with the Eco Everest Expedition was killed. Apa Sherpa, a member of the same climbing team, is also a Salt Lake resident who holds the world record for the number of times scaling Everest. FOX 13's Max Roth takes a closer look at how the Utahn's took part of the rescue effort.
