Authorities have released the name of a motocross rider that died at Jordan River State Park this weekend. On Saturday, 31-year-old Brian Buttars of Lehi was killed when his bike crashed. The injuries caused Buttars to go into cardiac arrest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. "He had a helmet on, he had a chest protector, a lot of different standard motor cross gear. The only thing that he didn't have is some sort of neckbrace, but I don't even know if that would have helped," said Lt. Don Hutson of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities will look at the bike to make sure there wasn't a mechanical failure that contributed to the crash.
