SALT LAKE CITY -
A gay couple holding hands walking through the Main Street Plaza were handcuffed by LDS Church Security Friday. According to LDS Church spokesperson, Cody Craynor explains in a statement that the two people were "politely" asked to stop engaging in inappropriate behavior. The behavior was described as holding hands and light kissing. The couple allegedly became argumentative and used profanity and refused to leave the property after being confronted. They were then given a citation for criminal trespass by SLPD.
