Doctors and Emergency Crews now provide a new treatment called therapeutic hypothermia for a person who has just experienced a heart attack. The South Jordan Fire Department Paramedics are the first and only team in Utah to certify and use this treatment in the field. Andrew James of the South Jordan Fire Department Paramedics said, "the Cath team of cardiologists were ready to continue the care that we had already started and he went in, had cardio catheterization performed, and had the artery that was blocked re-opened and then they continued with our cooling process."
