Hill Air Force Base Turns The Switch on Solar Power
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah - About 1,400 solar panels were unveiled at the Hill Air Force Base this week as an alternative source of energy. The panels, which are part of a $7 million project from the Department of Energy, will absorb light from the sun to produce renewable energy. The solar panels currently can generate 220 kilowatts, which can power 25 homes for one year. Hill Air Force Base officials said this is a small step toward energy independence and could also mean a more secure country in the future in the event of terrorism.
