SALT LAKE CITY—
Utah is working on a plan to get rid of the state's homeless veterans and by 2014, officials hope to get rid of the problem. FOX 13's Kirk Yuhnke went to the annual Homeless Veterans Standown on Friday, an event in Salt Lake City where homeless veterans can sign up for health care, schedule shots and screenings and even get appointments for dental care."I'm grateful to have it and I think we all deserve it as veterans," said Gayle Schick, a homeless veteran attending the Standown event.
Last year during the standown, about 150 to 200 veterans attended and received services. Officials said these services are always available to homeless veterans 365 days a year and the Standown event is just a way to get the word out.
