SALT LAKE CITY—
Intermountain Medical Center held their second annual transplant conference for recipients and for those who are still on the waiting list. The transplant conference brought together everyone whose lives were touched from donors, to recipients, to those who are still waiting for a life-saving donation. "The pre-transplant patients are waiting on the list and they're interested and curious about the whole process and so they come here to learn a little bit more about that process," Jeri Young said.Recipients get the chance to meeting waiting patients and talk with surgeons and transplant staff. "To see them standing tall, dressed, healthy, happy, excited to be here, it's emotions I can't even begin to describe," Young said.
Terri Box is a doctor who works with liver disease patients and was also a liver transplant recipient. "What we really want to do is take the message and the incredible feeling of love and courage that comes out of this gathering of people who share so much and transmit it in some way so that the population understands what he, she can do with that simple acknowledgment that I want to be a donor," Box said.
