Christmas weekend was marked by four house fires in northern Utah. In Pleasant View, Robert and Nancy Barclay's hopes for a happy holiday when up in smoke early Saturday. A fire marshal says the fire that destroyed the couple's house appears to have started in a garage attic.
Robert Barclay, an assistant Utah attorney general said he and his wife were in a camp trailer parked outside the house when the fire broke out.
Other fires burned through apartments or houses in South Ogden, Layton and Bountiful.
The fire in South Ogden was blamed on an explosion in a circuit breaker panel. The Layton fire drew 22 firefighters to a two-story house, where they carried Christmas gifts to safety outdoors, along with furniture and valuables.
