SALT LAKE CITY - State leaders and volunteers are trying to get the word out about cutting pollution simply by shutting off car engines while you wait for your kids at school. This is one example they say that could help reduce emissions to clean up the air and save money on gas. The Governor and several mayors throughout the state are hoping to educate those to turn off their car or truck engines if they are waiting for more than 10 seconds. "Parents oftentimes leave their vehicles idling while waiting for children outside schools, in some cases blowing smoke right in our childrens' faces," said Mayor Corroon. "Our goal is to get drivers in the habit of turning off their engines whenever they are idling for an extended amount of time."
