SALT LAKE CITY -
Unified Police detectives recovered thousands worth in stolen property and have made several arrests in connection with a recent string of robberies along the Wasatch Front. The suspected leaders of the crime spree, Tom and Christopher McMillan, are brothers and were also arrested by police. It all started coming together for cops last month; first, when Tom McMillan was busted by West Valley Police after a car chase. Two days later, his younger brother Christopher was arrested by J-CAT agents.
Detectives had long suspected the siblings were involved in a string of burglaries in 2009, including crimes at Milosport in Millcreek and a high end electronics warehouse in Salt Lake County.
Once the McMillan brothers were in custody, authorities said they were able to confirm their suspicions, which led them to a storage shed where they recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property from several different cities.
Police told Fox 13 News last summer they believed they were dealing with an organized gang of thieves.
"We absolutely hope somebody knows these people! It's a brazen and pretty aggressive approach to stealing merchandise and you just aren't sure how far they're going to go," said Lt. Don Hutson of the Unified Police Department.
The recovered property was taken in burglaries all along the Wasatch Front; officers said the suspects were active in Salt Lake, Utah and Tooele counties.
Along with the McMillan brothers, detectives say there are several other suspects, some in jail and others still on the run.
