MILLCREEK, Utah -
On Friday morning an elderly woman was found severely beaten in her home and police are looking for one of her renters as a prime suspect. At about 6:30 a.m., police say that a man who had been renting a room from 86-year-old Ann Smart-Pearce turned and attacked her. The man, Arthell B. Martin, 45, was renting a room in Pearce's lower part of her home on 1100 East and 3025 South. They say he fled from the home in a dark green, 1995 Hyundai Sonata, Utah license plate number: Z21-6MN. Arthell Martin is about 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds with an athletic build.
Pearce is in St. Mark's Hospital as of Friday afternoon undergoing surgery and is in extremely critical condition.
