SALT LAKE CITY—
Utah-based author, Heidi Swinton says that the LDS President, Thomas S. Monson comes across very genuine in character. Swinton is the author of Monson's new biography, "To the Rescue: The Biography of Thomas S. Monson." Swinton says it is a story about how he bacame a worldwide church leader and how the experiences in his life prepared him for that role."I think the most fascinating thing about president Monson is that he is exactly who you think he is. He is warm and engaging one on one just like he from the pulpit," she says.
She was nervous before she got the call about writing the LDS president's biography.
"At first i was nervous that i had done something that had very much gotten me in trouble but then he said i've been given...ive recieved a lot of pressure and i've been talking to my wife and i've prayed a lot and i want you to write my biography," she says.
For two years she wrote Monson's story, spending days looking through his journals, letters, and simply talking to him. And for the first time, the public can read about the moments that, up until now, were private.
The book was released in stores Monday.
