SALT LAKE CITY -
Two Jag Terriers were savagely beaten in a Salt Lake tow yard Saturday night. Chuck Long, who watches the yard, left for a few hours Saturday, leaving his two dogs in their kennels. He returned to find that the yard had been broken into.
Long found his pet terrier, Tuffy, dead. "He was bleeding from his ears, his nose, his mouth" Long said. The beating was so severe that the dog's eyes burst. "Makes me sick to think that somebody could do this to a dog that's in a cage on a chain." The other dog, Echo, survived the attack.
A baseball bat Long kept in his RV was found splintered underneath a car. Apparently the bat was used in the attack. Long thinks his dogs would have fought back, so the suspects may have scratches or bite marks.
Salt Lake City Police are looking for the person or people responsible for this act of animal cruelty, which is now a felony in Utah. Anyone with information should contact the Salt Lake City Police Department.
