SALT LAKE CITY - According to Salt Lake Police, crime in Pioneer Park has reduced more than 40 percent. Police attribute the sharp drop in incidents to the number of surveillance cameras placed in the park. And they say that most of the crime has simply been preventative -- simply having the cameras in place has been a deterrant. "We've actually only made a couple of arrest by looking at the cameras, and those were minor arrests, alcohol arrests. So, it's a huge deterrent and especially when it comes to drug activity," says police Sgt, Robin Snyder.
