Pioneer Park Installs Video Surveillance System
SALT LAKE CITY - - The Salt Lake City Police Department is installing a video surveillance system in Pioneer Park. "Our aim is to increase the comfort and safety level for all users of this public space," said Chris Burbank, Chief of Police. The system will have four cameras producing a live feed. The parke is often see violent crime, gang and drug activity, and police hope the new system will help prevent futre crimes.

Other cities, such as Chicago and Washington, D.C., have installed similar sytems with much success. The Salt Lake City Police Department hopes the cameras will deter criminal activity within the park and assist Police in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals.

Police will monitor the surveillance system during the following months to assess it effectiveness.
