SALT LAKE CITY - Pit bulls have a reputation for being vicious animals, but two Utah groups want to transform that image. Salt Lake County Animal Services and Best Friends Animal Society are working to dispel pit bull myths with the Canine Good Citizen training program.

It's an eight-week course that is considered an accomplishment for dogs of any breed. Organizers hope the program will help educate owners as well. Pit bulls are often the most euthanized animals at shelters across the country. Animal experts say they are lovable animals that don't deserve the dangerous reputation.
