WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -
Police arrested a Utah's Most Wanted suspect on Thursday, who allegedly robbed a Cottonwood Heights bank. The suspect, Alejandro Torres, was on the run for a little over a month, but police and federal agents say he could not hide for long once FOX 13 News viewers got involved. Cottonwood Heights Police said on September 30, Torres and his alleged accomplice Jose Almarez robbed the Mountain America Credit union at gunpoint and then fled the scene in a silver Jaguar.
Later that same day, officers found the car, arrested Almarez and recovered two handguns and a large amount of cash.
Torres remained on the run but after the FOX 13 News' story on Thursday last week, new tips came in and authorities found Torres hiding out in West Valley City.
Police said Torres is a documented gang member with a long, criminal history.
Both Torres and Almarez now face armed bank robbery charges.
FOX 13's Scott McKane has more.
