SALT LAKE COUNTY-Utah -
A police raid uncovered a chop shop on rural property owned by the LDS Church Tuesday. After receiving tips, agents sent a helicopter to scout the area before securing a warrant and raiding the site on 4800 West and 1100 South. They found engine and body parts from several cars. Unwanted parts were discarded in the Jordan River or buried on the property. The operation's suspect orchestrater, 21-year-old Cody Yelsma, is sought by police.
Police say chop shops are a lucrative business. The demand for doors and hoods is huge, especially for Japanese cars like Hondas. Street racers are willing to pay top dollar for V-tech engines .
21-year old Cody Yelsma is being sought in connection with this raid. Yelsma has a long criminal history, having been booked just last week on unrelated charges.
