A number of groups have previously tried to buy the privately owned Bridal Veil Falls property and to raise money to rebuild the tram. They have been unsuccessful.

The popular ride hasn't been in operation for years after an avalanche wiped it out. Also, the much visited lodge at the top of the falls burned down several years ago.

Despite the disasters, the area remains to be a very popular tourist destination.
