WOODS CROSS, Utah -
Holly Refining and Marketing Company hosted an emergency response exercise conducted by the Salt Lake Valley Mutual Aid Group in Woods Cross on Thursday morning. Members of the Mutual Aid Group, the South Davis Metro Fire Department, the West Bountiful and Woods Cross Police Departments, the Tesoro, Chevron, Flying J, and Silver Eagle refineries, and Pioneer Pipeline all participated in the drill, which simulated an explosion and fire in a large gasoline storage tank.
The exercise included response to a simulated fire in the tank, the potential release of gasoline to a nearby creek, and injuries to plant personnel that required rescue, evacuation, and treatment. At the beginning of the drill, the refinery fire and evacuation alarms were activated and were heard in surrounding areas.
