SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake City is installing LED and induction lights in street lights around the city with the help of Federal Government funding. "It saves a lot of money over time, it means we're not using as much energy, causing much pollution," Mayor Ralph Becker said.

The lamps being tested could reduce the city's annual streetlight electricity usage by 30 to 50 percent. "We're reaching out to people to say, help us decide which lights to use. There are pros and cons in terms of the lights, people can look at them and give us their comments and it'll help us decide what kind of street lights to put in," Becker said.
