LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Crews are continuing to search for the bodies of three people presumed dead after a mudslide destroyed their Logan home. Crews now think the family was in the back of the house when the mudslide hit. They have made some progress and will continue the search on Tuesday. The Logan police department have also identified those missing as Jacqueline Leavey, 43; her teenage son, Victor Alanis; and her 12-year-old daughter, Abbey Alanis. The city said it could take days to find the bodies.

Harris says 100 or more officials from police, public works, fire and other departments were working in shifts to find the victims. On Saturday afternoon, an avalanche of mud and water swept down a hillside in Logan and buried most of the home.

"More water was coming than normal, and it was dirty. Out of the ordinary," said Doug Roos, a neighbor. "It seems like anybody with any sense at all would think there's something wrong here."

FOX 13 attempted to contact Northern Logan Irrigation Company, the owner of the canal, but was unsuccessful in reaching them.

An investigation is currently underway on how the mudslide occurred, whether it was a leak in the canal or if it was a natural flood that caused it to break. The media on Tuesday will be taken right up close to where crews are digging to help the public understand the severity of the situation. FOX 13 will be there.
