SL County Council discusses plan to build hotel near Salt Palace
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Salt Lake County Council wants to build a hotel next to the Salt Palace Convention Center. Officials say the new building could cost up to $300 million, and would make Salt Lake City more attractive as a conference destination. A study compares Salt Lake City with Dallas; Austin, Texas; Omaha, Neb.; Phoenix; Tampa, Fla.; and Portland, Ore. It acknowledges that opening a convention hotel would affect other Salt Lake City hotels in the short term.
