SALT LAKE CITY - Some say it's the sign of economic confidence in Salt Lake City. Specialized Bicycle Components, a large international company, decided to open a new 250,000 square foot warehouse in Salt Lake City. And for them, it was cheaper than California and put them at the crossroads of the west.

"A lot of outdoor manufacturers and distributors are in Utah because they know the same thing we know," says distribution manager, Kim Peterson.

When their lease was up, instead of moving on, Specialized owners wanted more room to grow right where they started.

Specialized decided to stay in Utah because of the good business climate and the cycling community.

Origianally from New York, Jonathan Morrison came to Utah for brief trip and decided to stay because of the biking options. He's now the Executive Director of the Salt Lake Bicycle Collective.

"Definitely a notch in our belt, a reaffirmation of what we already know," says Morrison. "This is a great place to ride and do business here."

The State of Utah says 1,000 outdoor recreation companies have discovered Utah, which brought in 10,000 jobs.

80 employees work at the Specialized warehouse in Salt Lake City. There were no new hires with the new building, but the company says they now have the room to expand.
