STOCKTON, Utah -
Stockton had its biggest town council meeting Thursday night to discuss if the mayor abused his power by firing an officer who ticketed his son. Stockton's Mayor, Dan Rydalch left the town meeting before it even began. He left a statement for the city's attorney to read for him. The mayor wrote Officer Josh Rowell was rude to his son and subjected the town to complaints for improper stops.
Stocktons Police Chief said the driver evaded a checkpoint and was pulled over properly. Chief Kopp said he has never received any complaints about Officer Rowell, not even from the Mayor's son who was ticketed. Stockton's town council voted to reinstate Officer Rowell with full back pay. The town council said they may not have the full authority to reinstate the officer, so they are asking a third party to investigate. Rowell said hes excited to get back to work.
