The Utah State Legislature recently signed a bill this year that bans texting while driving, a law that will go into effect on midnight on Tuesday. Starting Tuesday, police officers can pull over those who are texting behind the wheel. Those in violation of this law will include anyone dialing more than a ten digit phone number.

Texting while driving will be a Class C Misdemeanor. If caught and pulled over by a police officer, the driver may have to pay a $70 ticket. If texting while driving causes an accident, it is considered a Class B Misdemeanor, which could mean more money and possibly jail time or license suspension. If a driver causes injury or death, there could be serious consequences.
