OGDEN, Utah -
A 3-year-old is in the hospital after getting hold of a loaded gun in an Ogden family's apartment and firing it. Luckily the child was not struck by the bullet, but was hit when the gun recoiled after firing. The toddler's mother was in the other room when the gun went off. The 3-year-old was in the bedroom with two other children, 2 and 4, when the gun went off. When the gun recoiled the back of the weapon struck the child above the eye says police. The child was concious, breathing and alert when he was transported to the hospital.
Police did not divulge information about the firearm's registration, or whether it was registered or not. Police are still investigating and will more than likely file charges later.
FOX 13 and fox13now.com will have more later as the story develops.
