SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah—
Detectives from the South Salt Lake and Cottonwood Heights police departments are comparing notes on a pair of OxyContin robberies to determine if there is a connection. On Saturday, May 16, two armed robbers held up a Rite Aid pharmacy in Cottonwood Heights for the powerful painkiller. Then, around lunchtime Tuesday, a South Salt Lake Rite Aid pharmacy was targeted for OxyContin in a violent, takeover-style robbery."They ordered four customers that were in front ot the pharmacist counter to the ground and then demanded oxycontin, at gunpoint, from the pharmacist. Ups the ante a lot, we want to get these guys, seriously," said Officer Gary Keller of the South Salt Lake police department.
