SALT LAKE CITY -
A considerable decline in the Utah Transit Authority's sales tax revenues has them considering ways to eliminate operating costs, and three express bus routes will likely be eliminated. The affected routes include 472 (servicing Ogden and Salt Lake City), 474 (servicing Ogden, Roy and Salt Lake City) and 476 (servicing Ogden, Clearfield and Salt Lake City). Some of UTA's riders say they are disappointed with the proposed changes.
"[An] alternate would probably be to take the 'slow bus' - the 470, which takes one hour from [my stop in Salt Lake City] to my stop in Kaysville," said Dan Brimhall, who uses a UTA express bus to commute. "The fast bus takes about 25 to 30 minutes."
UTA hopes riders affected by the proposed route cancellations will use FrontRunner trains instead. A series of public hearings will be held to gather public comments on the proposed cancellations. Click here for more information on the hearings.
