Across the nation, home sales in July jumped more than 7 percent, much better than expected. In Salt Lake County, sales went up 4 percent and Utah County saw a 20 percent surge.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the economy is on the verge of growing again. Several critics said Bernanke is just cheerleading, but here in Utah those on the front lines said he is not far off.
