SALT LAKE CITY - Utah lawmakers called a meeting at the Capitol Wednesday to discover the cause of high gas prices in the state. Lawmakers asked the Utah Petroleum Association, the Petroleum Retailers Association and AAA to provide information on Utah's gas prices with the Revenue and Taxation Committee. A spokesperson for AAA said she plans to show a pattern where Utah has had the highest gas prices in the country regularly for years. Lee Peacock with the Utah Petroleum Association says situations with refineries are the main factor.

"Our refineries both in Utah and outside have had issues with supplying enough fuel," said Peacock. "There have been some planned refinery turn arounds, maintenance procedures that are important to our industry, and also some unplanned events that have restricted supply."
