SALT LAKE CITY -
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utahns in deep debt will have a new way to pay it down under a new program announced by legislative leaders. House Speaker David Clark of Santa Clara unveiled the state's Debt Resolution Plan program on Wednesday. The plan's purpose is to keep Utahns out of bankruptcy court. The state ranks among the top in the nation for bankruptcy cases.
The program will offer those who are deep in debt counseling through Salt Lake City-based nonprofit AAA Fair Credit Foundation.
Under the program, those in debt can get tailored repayment plans aimed at being realistic and courses in personal finance. To participate those who seek help have to provide complete information about what they owe.
