SALT LAKE CITY -
More Girl Scout cookies were sold in Utah per capita this year than anywhere else in the nation, according to the Girl Scouts Association. The Girl Scout cookie program is an American tradition as well as an entrepreneurship program that teaches girls a wide range of skills. All proceeds generated from cookie sales in Utah stay in the state directly benefiting the Girl Scouts.
"Utah is number one and we sell more boxes per girl than anyone else in the entire United States," said Elaine Pace, Girl Scouts of Utah CEO.
Girl Scout cookies can still be purchased at booth locations at grocery stores across the state.
"Our girls should be out delivering cookies so if you have ordered cookies they will be in your neighborhood bringing them to you," said Pace."It was so exciting because on Saturday, I was in the warehouse with more than a million boxes of cookies. They were stacked all the way up to the ceiling."
