DRAPER, Utah—
The Utah State Correctional Facilities in Draper just received an A+ rating for the health care of its prisoners. This development has raised many questions on whether inmates are getting better coverage than others who are not in jail and are obeying the law. The Utah prison recently received a perfect score for the health care of its inmates, something very few states in the nation accomplish.According to the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, Utah inmates get the very best of care. The Draper Prison received a 100 percent score.
How does the care compare to what people get outside of prison? According to the Corrections Department, inmate healthcare mirrors the outside world.
