VERNAL, Utah—
A Vernal Junior High teacher was arrested Thursday after police learned he was allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. Norman Ray Bernard, 57, was taken into custody on five counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, a first-degree felony, and four counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor. Bernard is being held in the Uintah County Jail on $132,400 bail.Police don't know if Bernard was involved with any other students.
