WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -
The animal shelter in West Valley City teamed up with Taylorsville City planners in order to open a new facility located at 3500 south and 4400 West. The old shelter in West Valley was the most crowded facility in the state. "The facility that West Valley had before was outdated and it was hard to care for animals properly and its difficult for the employees who have to do this kind of work to have to work in that environment also," Taylorsville mayor Russ Wall said.
The new shelter cost more than $5 million, paid for with municipal bonds. Half of the 22,000 square feet facility will be used to house animals.
