WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -
Thursday was day four for missing West Valley woman, Susan Powell. West Valley police and detectives went out to Utah's West Desert Thursday to scour the area where Powell's husband, Josh said he and their kids went camping. Capt. Tom McLachlan says that they were there to verify husband, Josh Powell's story. Police say there was no sign of Susan and because of fresh snow, no sign anyone camped there.
"We brought out two dogs, and we also brought out ATV's, mules, a rhino, just to cover some of the area and basically none of us have ever been out here," says West Valley Police's Capt. Anita Schwemmer.
Susan Powell, 28, was expected to be with her family. The entire family was missing on Sunday and after Powell's relatives did not hear from the family for two days they called police. After receiving the call Monday, police smashed a window to get inside the Powell home on 6254 West Sarah Circle, fearing the family was inside and something was wrong. No one was home.
Later on Tuesday, Powell's husband and two children showed up without Susan, not knowing where she was. Powell was not found at home or at her work.
On Wednesday investigators executed a search warrant at the house, removing evidence from the premises for two hours.
"We've interviewed the husband, taken a statement from him at this time he's not a suspect," said West Valley Police's Capt. Tom McLachlan. "He's been released but we still don't have the information to really nail down where Susan Powell is."
"I hope they find her, I'm worried because I really don't think she'd leave her children... really unusual," says neighbor Wendy Trujillo.
"Things were getting better between them and they were doing OK according to my daughter," said Susan's father, Chuck Cox
Susan Powell is 28-years-old, 5-foot-3 inches tall and about 130 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. Police do not have a description of what she was wearing. West Valley Police ask to call if anyone has any information: 801-840-4000.
