SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah—
It is the year anniversary when 32-year-old Brian Cardall died after being tased twice by Hurricane Police. To mark the anniversary, the Cardall family climbed Mount Olympus today in memory of Brian. His brother Paul Cardall was awaiting a heart transplant at the time of Brian's death. "Pretty unbelievable because I got to this part last week and thinking no way I can do this, but when you have the support of a family, it makes it a lot easier," Paul said. Before his death, Brian Cardall loved sharing the outdoors with his family and could climb Mount Olympus with ease. Brian was a tissue donor and Paul is a recipient of a donor heart. Paul said that conquering the mountain was about encouraging others to register as donors and it was also a way to feel closer to Brian.
"Here we are a year today of Brian's death. It was really neat to honor Brian that way and bring him with us," said brother-in-law Erik Schmidt.
