CENTERVILLE, Utah -
Investigators believe they know the cause of a four-alarm fire that destroyed part of a Centerville business Monday night. Detectives say roofers were using a propane torch to heat up tar membrane they were working with in the area of the fire's origin. The roof decking was then ignited and smoldered for about an hour before it was noticed.
Fire crews said there is more than a million dollars worth of damages at the Colonial Building Supply but fortunately were able to be put the fire out before it hit the warehouse line.
Business owner Fred Hale says he is grateful for the quick response from the community and that no one was hurt . "We've had a great response from my employees and contractors, we had help from our competitors," Hale said. "We've had a great response."
