DRAPER, Utah -
A convicted killer behind bars for the 1990 slaying of a man during a restaurant burglary was up for parole on Tuesday. But the family of a woman missing for 20 years also showed up, hoping Thomas Noffsinger could provide them with new information about her disappearance -- and how her purse, with blood on it, would up in his apartment.
"Your honor, can we see this man's face?" Allen Hill, Annette Hill's brother, asked parole board member Clark Harms. He was denied that request, as prison rules forbid inmates from interacting with alleged victims' families during parole hearings.
Hill's family was hoping Noffsinger could tell them details about her disappearance. Her purse and some prescription drugs wound up in his apartment. Noffsinger told the parole board he did not know Hill, and he obtained her purse in a car burglary.
"I've never known her," Noffsinger said Tuesday.
"You claim to have never met her?" Harms asked him.
"I've never met her," Noffsinger replied.
Hill has never been found, and her family was clearly frustrated that they could get no answers.
"We as a family are anxious that, eventually, maybe there would be an explanation given by Mr. Noffsinger as to why our sister's possessions were in his apartment," Allen Hill told reporters outside the prison.
Noffsinger is currently serving up to life in prison for the murder of Victor Aguilar, who was stabbed in the back five times and his throat slit during a burglary at a restaurant. In an emotional hearing, Aguilar's family said they had forgiven Noffsinger, but urged the parole board to keep him locked up.
"Others' blood stains your soul," Elizabeth Aguilar, the victim's daughter told Noffsinger. "Victims for which you have no remorse. You do, however, feel a sense of entitlement. That the world owes you. How wrong you are, you very sad man."
Noffsinger cried as he apologized to the Aguilars and tried to persuade the parole board that he has changed so much, that he should be paroled.
"It tears me up that they are actually able to... to... forgive me for what I've done," he said.
The parole board is expected to release its decision sometime within the next month.SEND US YOUR NEWS, WEATHER AND SPORTS PICTURES! www.fox13now.com/pics
