SALT LAKE CITY -
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir celebrated 100 years of musical recording in Salt Lake City Thursday night. They sang some of their favorite songs from the past century. "How do you put being in this choir into words...it's such an emotional, physical, spiritual experience," choir member Larraine Rowberry said.
The choir made their first recording in 1910 and at the time that Columbia Record label executives did not think it could be possible. The choir started its own record label in 2003 and made 33 recordings with two Grammy nominations and has been at the top of the Billboard Charts.
"We were dubbed America's choir by Ronald Regan at the inauguration in 1981. Our current President Matt Christensen has a fond hope he wants the choir to be know as the world's choir," said Choir General Manager Scott Barrick.
