Two sisters, ages 21 and 16, found a duffel bag in a Spanish Fork Macys grocery store parking lot that contained almost $18,000 on Tuesday. That evening, after frantically searching and retracing his steps, the owner of the money called Spanish Fork Police reporting that he lost the gym bag full of cash -- cash he said he earned from the sales he made selling cars. Police searched the parking lot and came up empty handed as well until they got the call from two good Samaritans the next day.

It was late Tuesday night around 10 p.m., the sisters, Michelle Pientka and Jessica Pientka, found the duffle bag left in a grocery cart outside the Macy's. They grabbed the bag along with their groceries and headed home. They soon discovered the surprise inside.

"We looked through it, there was some gym clothes some water bottles and stuff, and then we open up the side zipper and all the money was in that side zipper," said Michelle.

"I didn't realize how many people would actually say, 'oh I'd keep it' I didn't think that, 'caus it wasn't mine, it didn't belong to me, it was never mine, so I never thought about keeping it," says Michelle. "I'd want someone to return it back to me," Jessica says.

Police said they received the call reporting the missing bag of cash the next day.

The owner was very grateful to have the money returned and sent the two a thank you card with an unspecified reward.
