SALT LAKE CITY—
Salt Lake City's popular Twilight Concert Series has gained such a massive following that the outdoor concerts can no longer be held at the Gallivan Center. The concerts can attract 20,000+ people on Thursday nights during the summer, and Salt Lake City's fire marshall says the Gallivan Center isn't safe for crowds that size. Pioneer Park is being considered as a new venue for the concert series. Casey Jarman, who came up with the idea for the Twilight Concert Series, says Pioneer Park has potential."[Pioneer Park] has some great, great positives. And, we just have to work out a few of the details with it," Jarman told FOX 13 News.
Jarman said the Twilight Concert Series has to be held at a venue where a stage can be set up and left there for the duration of the summer.
"We can't just rebuild a concert site every week. It's too labor-intensive and too costly," Jarman said.
The Salt Lake City Arts Council hopes to reach a decision on the matter within two weeks.
